Duvets can contain feathers, silk, wool, cotton, polyester batting or other artificial fibres. BUT they can also be home to dirt, dust, bacteria and dust-mites. ​ The warmth and moisture created in a duvet during use make it the perfect breeding ground for bacteria and dust mites. People are often very sensitive to the dust mite excretions which can cause asthma or hay fever. Because we spend around a third of our day in bed we can inhale large quantities of dust mite allergens, and unlike pollen they are present all year round causing a constant allergy. ​ That's why it's a good idea to regularly clean your duvet, pillows and bedspreads - twice a year is the minimum recommended by experts. ​ We won't dry clean your duvet but launder it in our industrial washing machines and drying equipment. It's returned to you in a breathable, durable, water repellent and re-usable handy storage bag. It'll be fresh and clean - and hopefully help you to sleep better at night!

We know how much of a chore changing bedsheets can be—but it doesn’t have to be! Bring us your bedding, and we’ll wash and press it, returning it crisp, fresh, and clean. Remember to have your duvets and pillows washed every six months to eliminate bacteria and dust mites, and don’t forget bedspreads and throws—keeping them clean is just as important. You can trust our professionalism; we never use ‘home-ironers.’ All our laundry is cleaned and pressed on-site by our own staff in a smoke-free, pet-free, and food-free environment, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and care.

Cleaning and boxing

Your wedding dress is precious to you. After your big day and before packing it away you will need to get it cleaned. Cleaning removes not only those stains that you can see, but also those that may not show until later - like perfume, body oils, perspiration and champagne! Many untreated stains, however minor, will soon become 'set' into the fabric; some invisible marks, particularly simple drink spills containing sugar, will progressively darken and oxidize with time, becoming very difficult (if not impossible) to remove later and are likely to cause permanent marking. We don’t charge extra for delicate fabrics like silk or linen; instead, we explain how they might react to the process as part of our service. Need same-day pressing? Bring your clothes in before 10 AM, and we’ll have them ready at no extra cost. All applicable garments are returned on shoulder guards to maintain their shape and prevent hanger dents. If your clothing needs de-linting or de-bobbling, we take care of it as part of the service. With Playhouse, you get the level of care others call "premier" or "gold"—without the extra cost. No hidden fees, no shortcuts, just perfectly pressed garments, finished exactly how you want them.

Shirt Service

Hung or folded

Hate doing shirts? Then use our popular shirt service where we will wash, dry, iron and hang your shirts, ready in 48 hours. For a nominal extra charge we can fold or starch them too - just ask. Button missing? Point it out to us and we can arrange to have it sewn back on. If you would like us to use your own hangers then bring them in with your shirts OR bring ours back for re-use. Of course, if you just want us to iron your shirts after you've washed them then we can do that too. How about doing away with the plastic covers? Either purchase one of our garment covers or bring in your own, and we'll pop your shirts into that to keep them clean on their way home.

Service Washes

Wash, tumble dry, fold

If your laundry basket is overflowing or your washing machine is broken and you don't have time to attend to it, then try an economical Service Wash where we will wash, tumble dry and fold your clothes for you. Save yourself time and energy costs! This service is best for everyday clothes, towels and bedding - please make sure it can all be tumble dried as we don't have acres of washing lines to peg everything out on to, and to keep our service value for money we won't check each label before drying! All you have to do is put it away when you get it home...

Seamstress Service

We offer the services of a professional seamstress, providing high-quality garment repairs and alterations. Whether you need trousers shortened, a zip replaced, or a jacket relined, we’ve got you covered. From small stitch-ups and button replacements to curtain shortening and new pocket linings, we can help extend the life of your clothes and household furnishings. If you require a more custom alteration, our seamstress will happily provide a quote before starting, ensuring there are no surprises and you’re happy with the price.
