Dry Cleaning

Our normal dry cleaning service INCLUDES many things other cleaners will charge you more for: We don't charge you extra for spot treating stains like some cleaners do. We don't charge you extra for garments containing silk or linen - generally expensive and delicate items, we will explain how they might react to the cleaning process as part of the service rather than charging you more for our knowledge. We don't charge more for a same day service - please bring your clothes in before 10am though. We don't just blow air through garments in an automated machine and call that 'finishing'. We have trained pressers who will fully hand finish each item using specialized equipment to make sure that creases in trousers are sharp, linings in jackets are smooth and collars are flat. Finished how you want it. All applicable garments are returned to you on shoulder guards to preserve their shape and prevent 'hanger dents' in the shoulders. Do you get that kind of consideration from other cleaners? If your garment needs de-linting or de-bobbling, we will do it as part of the service. Do other cleaners? With Playhouse, you get as standard many things that other cleaners would call their 'premier', 'executive' or 'gold' service - and which they charge you considerably more for. We offer excellence at no extra cost.
Duvets
Quilts, throws, sleeping bags etc
Duvets can contain feathers, silk, wool, cotton, polyester batting or other artificial fibres. BUT they can also be home to dirt, dust, bacteria and dust-mites. The warmth and moisture created in a duvet during use make it the perfect breeding ground for bacteria and dust mites. People are often very sensitive to the dust mite excretions which can cause asthma or hay fever. Because we spend around a third of our day in bed we can inhale large quantities of dust mite allergens, and unlike pollen they are present all year round causing a constant allergy. That's why it's a good idea to regularly clean your duvet, pillows and bedspreads - twice a year is the minimum recommended by experts. We won't dry clean your duvet but launder it in our industrial washing machines and drying equipment. It's returned to you in a breathable, durable, water repellent and re-usable handy storage bag. It'll be fresh and clean - and hopefully help you to sleep better at night!
Curtain and Loose Furniture Covers

It is advisable to clean your curtains every 6 months, or more frequently if you are asthma or allergy sufferer, as curtains are effectively a giant air filter trapping dirt, smoke, smells dust mites and allergens. Dry cleaning is the most effective way of removing these accumulations. on-site cleaning service offered by some companies is far less effective, only touching the surface and often producing unsatisfactory results. If you regularly clean your curtains and loose furniture covers you will prolong their life - the longer you leave it between cleans, the harder it becomes to remove the dirt and over time the dirt can damage the fabric. We charge by weight, so you will need to bring them into our shop for us to weigh and price them for you, and at the same time discuss the cleaning process. Your wedding dress is precious to you. After your big day and before packing it away you will need to get it cleaned. Cleaning removes not only those stains that you can see, but also those that may not show until later - like perfume, body oils, perspiration and champagne! Many untreated stains, however minor, will soon become 'set' into the fabric; some invisible marks, particularly simple drink spills containing sugar, will progressively darken and oxidize with time, becoming very difficult (if not impossible) to remove later and are likely to cause permanent marking. One of the biggest reasons brides give for not having their dress cleaned is that the stains remind them of their day - but not so romantic when you get your dress out fondly on your first anniversary to find a large yellow blob on the skirt or a dribble down the bodice..... more Shrek's Fiona than Cinderella on the fairytale princess front! So let's preserve the right memories and keep you feeling beautiful by cleaning your dress we specialize in caring for your dress and have years of experience in processing the delicate fabrics and beadings used in most wedding dresses.
Service Washes
Wash, tumble dry, fold
If your laundry basket is overflowing or your washing machine is broken and you don't have time to attend to it, then try an economical Service Wash where we will wash, tumble dry and fold your clothes for you. Save yourself time and energy costs! This service is best for everyday clothes, towels and bedding - please make sure it can all be tumble dried as we don't have acres of washing lines to peg everything out on to, and to keep our service value for money we won't check each label before drying! All you have to do is put it away when you get it home...
Bedding
Washed and pressed
We know what a chore changing the bedsheets is - but it doesn't have to be! Bring us your bedding and we'll wash and press it, returning it crisp, fresh and clean. Don't forget every 6 months to have your duvets and pillows washed too, to eliminate the bacteria and dust mites. The same applies to bedspreads and throws - keep them clean! You also know you can trust our profesionalism; we don't use 'home-ironers', all our laundry is cleaned and ironed on site by our own staff, where it is naturally a smoke, pet and food free environment.
Shirt Service
Hung or folded
Hate doing shirts? Then use our popular shirt service where we will wash, dry, iron and hang your shirts, ready in 48 hours. For a nominal extra charge we can fold or starch them too - just ask. Button missing? Point it out to us and we can arrange to have it sewn back on. If you would like us to use your own hangers then bring them in with your shirts OR bring ours back for re-use. Of course, if you just want us to iron your shirts after you've washed them then we can do that too. How about doing away with the plastic covers? Either purchase one of our garment covers or bring in your own, and we'll pop your shirts into that to keep them clean on their way home.
Repairs and Alterations
Seamstress Service
We use the services of a professional seamstress who provides our customers with a quality garment repair and alteration service. If you need a pair of trousers shortening, a zip replacing or a jacket relined then look no further. From small stitch-ups to button replacing, curtain shortening or new pocket linings, we are able to help you extend the life of your clothes and household furnishings. If you need something a little less standard altering then she will be happy to quote for the job before doing anything, so there are no surprises and you are happy with the price before you start. Just bring your item in and ask for details.
Leather, Suede and Fur Cleaning

Like all garments worn regularly, leather and suede items become dirty over time and require cleaning, just like any other piece of clothing in your wardrobe. Unlike normal fabric cleaning there are inherent characteristics in leather and suede garments that make cleaning extremely difficult and the results often unpredictable. Suede and leather processing is a highly specialized field, and we are proud to say that we have a trained expert on our team. Most leather and suede items require re-tinting after cleaning as they lose part of their dye during the cleaning process. It is for this reason that if your garment is part of a suit, you should get all the pieces cleaned at the same time. This minimizes colour differences in the finished result between the individual items. A good cleaner will be aware of what can happen to a natural product like leather or suede when it is cleaned, and will inform you of this prior to cleaning. See our factsheet for more information. Remember: Always treat your leather and suede with great care - stains are much easier to prevent than to remove! If your item gets wet, leave it to dry completely in a well ventilated area before putting it away. If it gets stored damp and mildew forms, this can rarely be removed. Don't store in a plastic cover - being a natural material, leather needs to breathe, so a cotton or breathable cover is better.

So what can you do? Bring your rugs in to us for cleaning and we can not only revitalise your rug, but consequentially refresh your room too! Rugs come in many shapes and sizes and are made from many different materials with all kinds of backings - this means that not all rugs can be cleaned in the same way. When you entrust your rug to us for cleaning we will select the most suitable method to give the best results.
Shoe Repairs

Extend the life of your much loved shoes by having them re-heeled by a local craftsman who has years of experience in the trade. He can also re-sole shoes with rubber or leather. If you have let your heels wear down a little too far then he may be able to rebuild them before re-heeling them. Bring your shoes in and we'll be happy to help you make them as good as new again.
Boot and Shoe Cleaning

We don’t mean polishing your leather uppers, but cleaning, freshening and restoring your trainers, walking boots, running shoes, suede shoes and boots – all those hard to clean but much loved items! Walking shoes, fabric and suede items will also get re-waterproofed once cleaned. We can’t remove every stain, especially if it’s been there a long time or been ground into the fabric through hot and cold temperature changes – but we’ll do our best to breathe new life into your old boots and shoes.
